2010 Fotocraft Workshops: Sept. 25-26, 2010

In the past few years there has been a resurgence of interest in the view camera, leading to a more Contemplative style of photography. Although digital photography is most popular today, the older format view camera is alive and well and gaining acceptance among serious photographers. These cameras provide superior technical quality, complete image control and afford a different way of seeing that is usually ignored when using smaller hand held cameras.

Workshop: Large Format Photography in Principle and Practice

A two day workshop exploring the use and benefits of the view camera, from its history to actual hands-on shooting and darkroom techniques. Workshop will run from 10:00am to approximately 5:00pm both days.

Day 1
Studio talk and demonstration plus a location photo shoot using large format equipment. An examination and discussion of the history of the view camera plus samples of past and present imagery.
Day 2
Darkroom techniques applying to the large format negative with actual processing and priming of large format work A discussion of photo lab chemistry plus selecting the proper paper for printing and presenting work

230 Ferry St, Easton PA 18042 (2nd fl.)

Wally Barnette
From The Beginning
August 13 - September 19, 2010
Opening Reception Saturday August 14th at 7:00 PM

"The mediums used to create my work are as varied as the subject matter.  I do not necessarily know in advance if the end result will be sculptural or 2 dimensional. It is dependant upon whether the inspiration was from a physical object or a thought.  As I have become more accustomed to working in this manner I find that I give more examination to the inspiration until a clear definition emerges before moving on to the execution of the final art work."

- Wally Barnette

Watercolors, Assemblages, and Monotypes as in the examples above, are but a sampling of the varied dimensions in Wally's art created from how he viewed the world around him.
Foliage and flowers around his beloved Hunt House,
boxes and balls he found in flea markets or created himself,
as well as the human form displayed in unexpected ways
are all interpretations of Wally's world.
We hope you will be able to join us at Connexions Gallery in Easton, PA for
"Wally Barnette - From The Beginning" for the opportunity to purchase any
of these pieces of fine art and over a hundred other pieces of oil paintings,
monotypes, sketches, pottery, assemblages, oil sticks, pencil drawings,
and several truly surprising pieces.
